Google Cloud added a catalog of scientific AI models specialized in biology, materials, and climate to Vertex AI, according to Bloomberg. The announcement comes as China accelerates its own AI-assisted science despite limited access to advanced chips.

Thinking Machines Lab released Inkling, a Mixture-of-Experts model with 975B parameters, open weights, and a context window of up to 1M tokens. The company also showed how the model can retrain itself using its Tinker platform.
